Mongolian Music Friends

Mongolians Music AD Friends, originally uploaded by John Beagle.

Ankhaa and Dembee were visitors in our home last week. Ankhaa celebrated his 16th birthday on Sunday. Dembee already is 16. Neither boy spoke any english. Thumbs up was the first sign language we learned. Do you like this? Thumbs up or down?

While Ankhaa lives in a traditional house in town, Dembee lives in a ger in the countryside. Life is quite different in Monglolia. There is limited electricity and running water. But there are lots of cell phones.

Everything was an adventure. From taking showers to eating hamburgers like a sandwich, the boys received an education in our American ways. We played golf, basketball, and soccer with my 16 year old son, Bobby.

One night the boys made us a traditional Mongolian supper. They went shopping for the food. Prepared the food and then performed music on their Morin Khurr (horse head fiddle) for us. The attached video is the performance from last Thursday night in our Monroe, Ohio home.

Here is a video of their performance in our kitchen:

Wrigley Field in Chicago

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Wrigley Field , originally uploaded by John Beagle.

We had seats 5 rows off the first base side and could see our Cincinnati Reds up close coming and going off the field.

Going to a Cubs game is an event. Much like a college football game, because there is a mass of people everywhere in and around the stadium. The streets were closed for foot traffic to all the great bars in town.

I want to do this again! Chicago rocks. Cubs won 5 to 0.

Lebanon Bike Path Under I-75 to Little Miami

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

I just realized that bike paths are generally publicly funded. Since I have been paying taxes for 35 years, I in effect have help fund all the bike paths in the US. Therefore all bike paths are mine!

Well that’s what I am telling myself and anyone who will listen.

This is a photo taken on the Lebanon bike path under Interstate 75. A very challanging bike path, due to changes in elevation. But also very fun to ride.

There are some photos on My Bike Path Blog Entry: Lebanon to Little Miami Bike Path.

I will be checking out different bike paths in the US as often as possible.

Video Wall, originally uploaded by John Beagle.

Jim and Raj Jain are the father and son team from ICC.

ICC is one of Rentacomputer.com’s largest trading partners. In this photo, Jim and Raj are standing in front of a 9 panel video wall that is worth over six figures yet rents for less than five.

Video walls are the ultimate in plasma display technology. Each panel is equal to a 42″ plasma flat screen without the bezel.

The most common configuration is with 4 of these panels, but any number of panels can be used in conjunction with one another. Yes you could do an entire wall with these panels.

A special software program resides on a laptop computer so all images appear as one large image.

John Beagle: Remembering 911
I just wanted to remind myself and everyone who reads my blog, that I haven’t forgotten September 11, 2001. And neither should you.

God have mercy on us all. Protect us, keep us strong and help us unite in the face of those who would kill us.

And above all Remember 911

Mandalay Bay Pool Area and Conference Center

Mandalay Bay Pool Area, originally uploaded by John Beagle.

We had fun in the Sun at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Everyday temperatures reached over 100 degrees. Best yet, it was next to the Mandalay Bay Conference Center.

Thanks to my Tech Travel Agent, Jessica, we were able to relax and not worry about my trade show technology like plasma flat screens and full surround sound for our multimedia demonstration. Everything arrived when it was supposed to, it worked and we even had a stand by tech in the event of a problem.

We had fun at the pool everyday.

Disc Golf

frisbeegolf 023, originally uploaded by John Beagle.

There is a new disc golf course with 24 ‘holes’ at the Monroe Community park. Disc golf is also known as frisbee golf. The goal is similar to regular golf, take as few shots as possible. The frisbee has to get caught in this contraption to be considered ‘in the hole.’
